Belarus President to visit Zimbabwe Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Alexander Lukashenko

BELARUS President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to pay a State Visit to Zimbabwe and meet President Mnangagwa next week.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson Mr Levit Mugejo, the visit is meant to further strengthen relations between Belarus and Zimbabwe.

“The President of the Republic of Belarus, His Excellency Alexander Lukashenko, will pay a State Visit to Zimbabwe from 30 January to 1 February 2023. During the State Visit, HE President Lukashenko is scheduled to meet HE President Dr E D Mnangagwa.

“The visit is historic, as it is the first such undertaking to a sub-Saharan African nation, by President Lukashenko,” said Mr Mugejo.
He said the two countries are likely to sign several agreements.

“The State Visit is meant to strengthen the existing excellent relations between Zimbabwe and the Republic of Belarus. The two countries have strong co-operation in political, economic, mining, agriculture and Disaster Risk Management. Several agreements are under consideration and are expected to be signed during the visit,” said Mr Mugejo.

He said during the visit the Heads of State were expected to launch the Second Phase of the Zimbabwe-Belarus Agricultural Mechanisation Programme.
