Sandisiwe Chikomborero Bhule, 25, was crowned Miss Earth Zimbabwe at a modelling contest held on Saturday night at the Bulawayo Theatre.
Nomsa Nyathi was the first princess and was crowned Miss Earth Fire taking over from Baye Pigors and second princess, Lebo Magona was crowned Miss Water.
The competition which ran under the theme “Beauties nurturing nature” saw Nonthuthuzelo Sisale settling for fourth place to be crowned Miss Air.
Speaking to Chronicle Showbiz after the pageant, the visibly excited Bhule said she did not expect to win.

“I am shocked that I won. When I entered this pageant I didn’t think that I would one day hold this title. I told myself that I would emerge as a Miss something, not Miss Earth.

“I am grateful to people who have been there for me during this journey. I have a lot of people to thank but for starters I want to thank God for giving me strength. Secondly I would like to thank my mothers because I have a lot of them, my boyfriend for the encouragement he gave me and my friends,” said the Harare-based model.

The contestants looked dazzling as they walked down the ramp to showcase their beauty in two categories – swim wear and night wear.
The first category saw the models walk down in swim wear which seemed to be the crowd’s favourite as they cheered and whistled in support for the queens.

Evening wear was spectacular as the models were escorted by soulful crooner, Audius Mtawarira who stood at the centre of the stage to welcome the models to escort them down the ramp as he sang one of his songs My Zimbabwean Girl.

The models were then trimmed to seven, eliminating six. The seven then got into the question and answer segment.
After the question and answer segment the judges went straight into picking their winners who were crowned by Samantha Dika, Miss Earth 2013.

Sandisiwe will represent the country at the Miss Earth World Finals taking place in the Philippines next month and will get a year’s supply of cosmetics from Langa Cosmetics.  She will also be involved with communities across Zimbabwe, promoting environmental awareness and sustainable living.
