Bolamba to represent Matabeleland South at Neshamwari finals Bolamba Performing Arts

BOLAMBA Performing Arts group will represent Matabeleland South province at the Chibuku Neshamwari traditional dance competition national finals after winning the provincial competition held on Saturday.

The group walked away US$2 500 richer after being adjudged the best group at the provincial finals held at Manz’amnyama Beerhall in Gwanda.

In second place was Blanket Mine Chihoda which took home US$1 500. How Mine Chihoda was the second runner-up and received US$ 1 000.

National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) Matabeleland South provincial arts manager Percy Vela said: “Bolamba Performing Arts performed the Setape dance which earned them 257 marks with the second place getting 214 marks.

The event was a success and all eyes are now on Bolamba Performing Arts as they will represent the province at the national finals.”

Bolamba Performing Arts will join Goromonzi Arts Ensemble (Mashonaland East), Dzimbadzemabwe Arts Ensemble (Masvingo) and Dedza Chitandizo (Harare) who have secured slots to represent their provinces at the national finals.

The provincial competitions continue in the Midlands and Bulawayo provinces which are hosting their finals at Zaire Cocktail Bar and Manor Hotel on July 2 and July 9 respectively.

Victoria Falls will host the Matabeleland North finals at Chinotimba Beerhall on July 16 and Mashonaland Central will close the provincial competitions on July 16. — @mthabisi_mthire
