Businesses expect better, bigger ZITF

In an interview, an executive from Treger Plastics, Mr Pijeni Dube, said they were expecting a better show this year as 2012 was better economically, compared with last year.

“This year things are promising to be much bigger and much better because more businesses are exhibiting and coming up with new products to showcase.

“In terms of preparations, this year was a bit smooth as we didn’t face any challenges compared with the past few years. As you can see we are just making final touches waiting for tomorrow,” he said.

Mr Dube said they were also going to exhibit new products that they created this year.

“This year we managed to come up with new products such as the mining hose and some new designs of hose pipes as we have decided to also venture into the mining equipment supply business.

“We came up with the idea when we participated in the Mining Indaba this year hence we decided to implement the idea,” he said.

Zim-Midas has also come up with new products to showcase as the company has expanded to camping sets besides the motor parts they specialise in.

In an interview, an official who preferred anonymity said they were hoping to experience a better exhibition from last year as they have expanded their operations as well.

“We are now also producing camping tents, boats, pool sets among other things as we try to bring diversity to our business.

“We are expecting to be done in terms of preparations by the end of the day as this has taken long than we expected,” he said.

An official from Tanroy Engineering, which produces grinding mills, oil pressing machines and feed mixers, Mr Knowledge Tembo, said preparations were a bit difficult but they were almost done.

“Stands were so scarce this year and we ended up getting stands from the outskirts as all halls were taken up.

“We are looking forward to a better exhibition this year since the economy has stabilised a bit. We also have new displays like the grating machine which we had initially created for Equatorial Guinea,” he said.

Companies from neighbouring countries such as Zambia, and Malawi among others expressed enthusiasm towards the event saying they were ready to network.

Mr Chris Chintali from Cable Manufacturers, Malawi, said they were hoping to find new business deals in Zimbabwe as they deal a lot with other African countries.

“We will be showcasing our cable mainly underground cables which come in different sizes, hoping that we will be able to create some business contacts,” he said.

ZITF company marketing and public relations manager Mrs Nomathemba Ndlovu said everything was in place as many exhibitors were making final touches to their stands.

“We expect a better show this year and we are also looking forward to the revamping of designs as we made sure that this year will be a more professional exhibit like other countries do it.

“We still have a long way to go to match the international standards in terms of our presentation but we are working on that and we will keep improving each year,” she said.
