Innocent Kurira, Sports Reporter
THE Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) will hold trials this weekend for the national Under-18 boys’ and girls’ teams to compete in the Africa Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Under-20 Games in December.

The regional games, to be held in Lesotho, will also be used as Afro-Basket qualifiers.

The trials will be held tomorrow and Sunday at different venues around the country. In Bulawayo, the trials will be held at Khanyisile Sports Centre in North End, while those in Manicaland will converge at Mutare Girls High School.

Gutu High School is the venue for the Masvingo trials, with Girls High School hosting the Harare trials.

BUZ named coaches for the age group national teams and were mandated to identify talented players that will represent Zimbabwe in the Games in Lesotho.

The girls’ team will be coached by Clement Kucheketa, who is the head coach of Girls High School and Green Stars Basketball Club in Harare.

He will be assisted by Nkulumane High School and Southern Mavericks coach Admos Ndlovu.

Harare City Hornets and Heritage College coach Tawanda Nemutambwe will be in charge of the boys’ team and assisted by Rodwell Khumalo, the coach of Falcon College in Esigodini. — @innocentskizoe
