BULAWAYO music fans have challenged local DJs to unite and organise shows during tthe festive season instead of having sporadic shows at night clubs as is the norm. They said this will assist to build their profiles as marketable brands. The call was made against the backdrop of the Kalawa show that has proved to be the epicentre of festive season entertainment in the city in recent years.

Fans who spoke to Chronicle Entertainment said there were many entertainment slots during the festive season that the local DJs could take advantage of if they pooled resources.

“Local DJs have it in them to host such grand events, but it needs consistency and patience. They can have an end of year street bash in the high density areas. All they need is to be organised, united and have a set plan,” said Thomas Dube from Harrisville.

Another fan said the Kalawa show was now a permanent feature on the entertainment calendar during the festive season and local Djs could do the same.

“This is what is needed during holidays like this. Something that we know will be there every time we go on holiday. What stands out now is the Kalawa Homecoming Party. Local DJs should take advantage and have such events that we look forward to. People only want to have fun during the festive season” said Anita Moyo.

In recent reports, it seems that local DJs have that in mind as they are organising themselves.
According to sources local DJs have formed an organisation that will teach Deejaying to those who aspire to work on the turn tables.
Local DJs such as Mzoe, Joe the OG, Emmity Smooth, Dash, Kananjo, tribal house DJs Djembe Monks, Slamma, are among those who have the potential to be crowd pullers.

The Kalawa show had fans queuing as early as 8pm and the snaking queues that led to the points of entry reached Robert Mugabe Way, about 300 metres away, from the main entrance at Queens Sports Ground.

Behind the scenes Oskido was seen pulling the strings as it is reported that the show was organised by the turntable master, cutting out the middle man.

Consistency, for Oskido, is the key for the success of the show that is in its third year.
Hopefully next year the Kalawa crew will come home again.

On the day of the show, the Kalawa crew went into the high density suburbs and held a road show.
Also Oskido held a mini-street bash along George Silundika Street on the eve of the show.
