Byo records highest number of Covid-19 cases

THE country has reported two more Covid-19 related deaths and 58 new cases in the last 24-hour cycle, with the highest number of cases, 24 being recorded in Bulawayo.

All the 58 new cases are local transmissions.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Zimbabwe now stands at 1 432 while the national recovery rate stands at 89,7percent.

A total of 1 436 PCR tests were conducted yesterday and the positivity was four percent.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the highest number of 24 cases was reported in Bulawayo followed by Harare with 17 cases.

Masvingo recorded seven new cases while Mashonaland East had five cases.  Midlands had four new cases with Matabeleland South recording one case. The remaining four provinces did not report has cases in the last 24 hours.

“As of February 20 2021, Zimbabwe, has now recorded 35 768 confirmed cases, 32 096 recoveries and 1 432 deaths,” reads the statement.

“One hundred and twenty-four new recoveries were reported and the national recovery rate stands at 89,7 percent and active case go down to 2 240 today.”

So far, Bulawayo province has recorded 5 221 cases 4 884 recoveries, 137active cases and 200 deaths.
