Chibuku Road to Fame 2024 roars to life

Eleven music groups from across Zimbabwe have gathered at the Glamis Arena in Harare, where they are just hours away from competing for the coveted Chibuku Road to Fame title, which includes a prize of US$15 000 and a recording deal.

The second-place winners will receive US$10 000, while the third-place participants will take home US$7 500. This year’s edition runs under the theme “Bvirarira, Tshay’iNgoma”, celebrating the rich diversity of Zimbabwean music and culture.

Each group has 15 minutes to showcase their talent. The event kicked off shortly after midday with a performance by Panhimbe Crew from Masvingo province, followed by Pilgrims of Christ from Mashonaland East at. Music 2 Music from Bulawayo Metropolitan is up next.

Also scheduled to perform are Boom Jazz from Mashonaland West, Harare’s own Outlaws, Crazy Eight from Mashonaland Central, Shanty Town from Mashonaland Central, Cousins Band from Midlands, Kweseka Band from Matabeleland North, and another Kweseka Band representing Matabeleland South. The event will conclude with a performance by Charlotte and Vibrant Band.

Following the competition, the audience will enjoy performances by popular artists, including Freeman, Feli Nandi, Master H, 911 Band, and Chillspot Family.

The reason for Mashonaland Central’s two representatives remains unclear.
