Chinhoyi teen attacks man with metal object

A 19-YEAR-OLD man from Chinhoyi was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for assaulting a man (47) with a metal bar.
On 12 October 2024, around 8pm, the complainant was enjoying a beer at Magogi shops when Christian Nzou (19) approached him and started shouting.
The situation intensified, and Nzou struck the man with a metal object on his left arm, claiming he only wanted to get his attention.
The man was later rushed to Chinhoyi Hospital for a medical examination.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe in a statement on X, said, “On the 12th of October 2024 at around 2000 hours, the complainant (47) was drinking beer at Magogi shops when the accused person approached him and started shouting at him. The accused person struck the complainant with a metal object on the left arm and he told him that he only wanted the complainant to acknowledge his presence. The complainant was referred to Chinhoyi Hospital for medical examination.
“The accused person was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment of which 5 months was suspended for 5 years on condition of good behaviour. The remaining 7 months were suspended on condition that he perform 225 hours of community service.”
