Deportee killed after being hit by plane on Russia runway The man was hit and killed on the runway at Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow

A man has been killed on the runway at Moscow’s largest airport after being hit by a plane as it was taking off.

Armenian Albert Yepremyan, 25, had earlier been deported from Spain, according to sources quoted by Russia’s Interfax news agency.

But he had started a fight during the flight to Moscow and police had been called to detain him at Sheremetyevo airport.

He had been due to board a flight to Yerevan on Tuesday night but at around 8pm he headed for the runway instead of boarding the bus waiting to take passengers to the plane.

He ended up in the path of an Aeroflot flight heading to Athens.

The man was hit by the jet’s landing gear which caused “deadly injuries”, investigators said.

His remains were discovered when the plane landed in Greece, along with remnants of his clothing.

Interfax quoted a source as saying that “holes” were found in the plane’s fuselage after it arrived.

The source added: “It was decided not to return the aircraft to the airport of departure because the systems did not signal damage.”

Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency is investigating the incident.
