NEW Central Region Soccer League side Dinson Mvuma FC is targeting three points in their match against fellow newboys Beitbridge FC, in a Week Three clash.
Mvuma, who started with two draws in the opening encounters this season ,are aiming to pick up their first set of maximum points in a match to be played at Mvuma Primary School Grounds, on Sunday afternoon. The Steel boys who were away to former champions Sheasham FC last week, come into the clash on the back of a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Bata Stadium, which positioned them on ninth position on the log table. The Mvuma side coach, Joseph Michaels said that he is not in the league to add up numbers. “We are in this league to make an impact, we are even thinking of getting promoted to the PSL after matching pound for pound with our opponents in the first two matches, I feel its safe to say we want the championship and we are not in the league to stay for long,”’ he said.
In other fixtures this weekend, Dulibadzimu Utd will play against Gokwe North while Chapungu host Black Eagles at Ascot Stadium. Sheasham will be on a tough assignment against Kwekwe United at Zisco Sports Club. Second positioned West Nicholson will entertain Wangu Mazodze. On Sunday, former Premiership outfit Shabanie Mine will take on MSU at Maglas in Zvishavane .ZRP Gwanda will travel to Muchato Stadium for a date with Bishopstone. Log leaders Blanket Mine are on a bye, after the suspension of Maphisa side Amazon FC.
Meanwhile the Zifa Southern Region League will not kick off this weekend. This was confirmed by spokesperson, Blessing Mbwanda. He said following their meeting with the Zifa Normalisation Committee last week, they were forced to postpone action until all the clubs have registered their players online.
“Most of our clubs have not yet registered their players online. That has to happen before the season starts. It is the way to go and we urge teams to speed up that process,” said Mbwanda at the weekend.
