A MAN from Victoria Falls allegedly swallowed two packets of methamphetamine after police stormed his house to arrest him and his wife for possessing the dangerous drug.
Methamphetamine, aka meth or speed, is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system. It takes the form of a white, odourless, bitter-tasting crystalline powder that easily dissolves in water or alcohol.
Ronald Kukuwa (34) and Sithengimpilo Ngwenya (36) were arrested on Friday at their place of residence, from where they had been selling drugs.
A third person Lloyd Burati who was their client was also arrested after being found in possession of the drug.

They were arrested on Thursday. The couple was not asked to plead to unlawful possession or specially restricted preparation without authority, in contravention of Section 67 (1) of the Medicine and Substances Control General Regulations 1991 Statutory Instrument 150 of 1991 As Read With Section 38 (3) of the Medicine and Allied Substances Control Act.

They appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Ms Linda Dzvene. Represented by Mr Givemore Mvhiringi of Mvhiringi and Associates, the couple applied for bail and the court is yet to decide.
“On the 29th of August detectives from the Criminal Investigations Drugs and Narcotics received information that the accused were in possession of methamphetamine at their place of residence in Mkhosana.
“Acting on the information the police proceeded to the house and found the couple and after introducing themselves, requested to search the house. They started by searching the accused and during the search, Kukuwa took two sachets of methamphetamine from his left trousers pocket and ingested them,” the court was told.

Further searches were conducted in the couple’s bedroom and 210 grams of the drug were recovered in a plastic paper stashed in a shoebox leading to the arrest of the couple.
Ms Josephine Gurazhira represented the State.
