ZIMBABWE’S  largest life insurance company by policy holders, EcoSure, has re-introduced its popular “Mabhodho Promotion” where it gives back and empowers the community with utensils to be used at funerals.

EcoSure Chief Principal Life Officer Mr Godwin Mashiri said the organisation is always looking for ways to give back and empower the communities that continue to support its business.

“We have a responsibility to our communities, both those we work in and beyond, to help reduce inequality, raise aspirations and promote social and digital inclusion,” said Mr Mashiri at the relaunch of the promotion.

“EcoSure Mabhodho Promotion” is being re-introduced following the huge success it had in the past few years when it empowered more than 500 groups countrywide, with free utensils.

The utensils, including three-legged cast iron pots, plates, metal cups, 75-litre water containers and catering pots, can be used to generate income through hiring out at functions and events or whenever a member of the group loses their dependents.

Mr Mashiri said while dealing with the loss of a loved one is a very difficult thing, the company believes that the need to have funeral cover is of importance, especially in light of the country’s challenging business operating environment.

“We believe in empowering and transforming Burial Societies through the ‘assets’ we are giving them just as a way to say thank you for their loyalty and support,” he said.

EcoSure currently covers over 5  000 Clubs and Burial Societies, which were formed to allow members to support each in cases of a bereavement.

To qualify to get utensils in the “EcoSure Mabhodho Promotion”, Burial Societies and other social groups need to register at least 20 members or more onto the EcoSure USD policy, and pay premiums for a minimum of six months, and they get their free utensils.

The promotion also rewards individual customers who sign up on any USD package via the *900# short code, with a guaranteed airtime benefit. They are added into a bonus draw to win prizes such as solar sets, gas tanks and many others.

To qualify, individuals register on any of the EcoSure USD packages and pay their full premiums for six months.

EcoSure funeral life cover ranges from as low as $0,50 per month with pay-outs of up to US$5 000.
