THE Elton Chigumbura Cricket Academy was the biggest winner at an invitational tournament held in Victoria Falls on Monday as its two teams – the Colts, made up of players aged 10 years and below and its under-13 boys team – won the finals.

The under 13s played against Victoria Falls Eagles, a select team made up of players from Victoria Falls Farm Primary School and managed to chase down the 143 runs target they had been set.

Against Mashonaland West, which was made up of boys from Kadoma and a few from Chinhoyi and Chegutu, the under-13 academy boys posted 216 runs which Mashonaland West failed to chase as they only managed to score 150 runs.

The Colts also played against a Victoria Falls select team and All Stars academy from Harare. Like their seniors, the Colts also won both their matches. Against the hosts, they scored 167 runs and bowled them out for 85 runs. In the other match, the All Stars were bowled out for 81 and the academy managed to chase it with four wickets in hand.
