Fab G on why he responded to Big Zulu’s 150 Bars diss track Fab G and Big Zulu

RECENTLY, South Africa’s Big Zulu’s plan to resuscitate hip-hop saw him throwing shade at other rappers on a diss track titled 150 Bars.

Such a move has seen a resounding response from other rappers including KO, Duncan Skuva, and Kwesta just to name a few, but Zimbabwe would also ‘gatecrash uninvited’ as seen in Fab G Mshanakagogo dissing Big Zulu as well in his latest offering.

Chronicle Showbiz caught up with the Manginawe singer to ascertain reasons why he dissed Big Zulu, yet he was not mentioned in the song.

“If you talk about bringing back hip-hop, then I’m in. To hell with borders, hip-hop is everywhere. If you do a diss track and mention ‘rappers’ then automatically, any emcee in the world is included and if I feel like I got what it takes to respond, then I’ll break the ice,” explained Fab G.

Fab G’s Savutha diss track was released on Friday and is the first from a Zimbabwean rapper after South African rapper with Zimbabwean ties, Gigi Lamayne expressed interest in ‘chilling with the big boys’ when she returns from her tour overseas.

Fab G, who met Big Zulu last year when the Imali eningi hit-maker touched base in Bulawayo also took time to comment on how his Manginawe song has been faring both locally and regionally.

“So far, the response has been positive. I pre-launched the song at Old Magwegwe on a show I held on 19 August and it’s very successful more than expected.

“The video premiered on MTV base and it’s trending. Next up is channel O, Trace Africa, ZTN and 3ktv,” he said.

Chronicle Showbiz understands that the lyrical warfare started by Big Zulu might, in fact, be staged to amass supporters for the upcoming Back to the City Festival slated for 1 October at the Maryfitz Gerald Square in Johannesburg. At the event, Big Zulu will rub shoulders with some of the rappers he called out. These include Emtee and Duncan Skuva.
