FBC Holdings has scooped the most outstanding project of the year award for its successful housing development scheme while Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) programme manager Natsai Shoko has landed the project manager of the year title. The awards were administered by Project Management Zimbabwe, the country’s largest association of project managers with a membership base of over 1,000. Shoko received the award at the annual international project management reception hosted in Harare last Thursday.

“Shoko was awarded after shrugging off competition for the accolade from over 1,000 other project managers,” said PMZ   in a statement.

Other top three nominated candidates were Lloyd Dube from Afrosoft Holdings, a leading IT infrastructure developing firm and Qedindaba Khumalo from Unki Mine in Shurugwi who leads community   and mine projects for Anglo platinum. Shoko was honoured for her sterling  efforts as one of the few female project managers in the supervision of works going on in the country’s highways and major roads.

“Zinara recently took over the rehabilitation of the Harare Airport Road as well as the Beitbridge-Masvingo-Harare-Chirundu Roads. Shoko is in charge of supervising project teams and sub-contracts working on these projects to ensure coverage of project scope,” said PMZ.

FBC Holdings was honoured for providing housing schemes in Harare and Kwekwe. The institution is running successful housing projects such as Glaudina project, Masotsha Ndlovu cluster home scheme, Greendale cluster home scheme and Mbizo housing scheme in Kwekwe.

Each year the association carries out a national survey to identify on-going or completed projects and project managers deserving recognition.

The most outstanding project of the year award is targeted at stimulating a competitive attitude in project management excellence amongst the PMZ corporate membership.
