THE $50 000 Castle Challenge Cup that will feature league champions FC Platinum and winners of the Premier Soccer League’s main knockout tournament, the Chibuku Super Cup, Triangle United marks the close of the season tomorrow afternoon.

The competition whose winner will take $30 000 and the loser $20 000 will be played at the home of league champions, Mandava Stadium.

FC Platinum who successfully defended their league title, won last year’s Castle Challenge Cup, beating Harare City 2-1 at Mandava Stadium.

The match is expected to be a thriller since both sides are aiming at adding another trophy to their cabinet.

What even makes the build-up to tomorrow’s clash exciting is that the two teams’ coaches Norman Mapeza and Taurayi Mangwiro shared the November Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s Coach of the Month award.

FC Platinum are likely to rest most of the players that played in Wednesday’s first leg of the Total Caf Champions League preliminary round away fixture against CNaps Sports of Madagascar. The platinum miners drew 1-1, a positive result for the Zvishavane side whose aim will be to finish off the Indian islanders in four days time.

It is unlikely that FC Platinum will parade Soccer Star of the Year finalists Rodwell Chinyengetere who has reportedly agreed terms with South Africa’s Baroka, defender Kevin Moyo and midfielder Farai Madhananga.

Triangle United will pin their hopes on Soccer Star of the Year finalists Lameck Nhamo and Phenias Bamusi to lead them to victory. Nhamo will be playing his last game for the Lowveld based side as he is set to join FC Platinum.
