First Lady works to sustain clean-up programme First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa

The First Lady and patron of the National Clean Up Campaign Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa says she will continue to partner the private and public sector to ensure sustainability of the programme.

She made the remarks in Mutare where she led the National Clean Up Campaign programme at Sakubva market yesterday.

Amai Mnangagwa is indeed spreading the programme’s nationalised flair as from Bulawayo last month she descended in Mutare this month to propagate the message of cleanliness.

Sakubva market will never be the same as the vendors have entered into a pact with the First Lady to sustain clean environments.

The First Lady was at Sakubva market before 8am and the community was out in full force to support the national cause.

She took the opportunity to interact with the vendors at Sakubva market and encouraged them to keep their working environment clean in order to attract more customers.

Vendors at the market revealed that they have taken heed of the call by the First Lady to maintain clean and hygienic environment.

Amai Mnangagwa then took the clean up into the city where she later addressed Mutare residents at Meikles Park stressing the need to work together as Zimbabweans for a greater good and to support the national clean-up programme.

A minimum of 2 hours have been set aside for every first Friday of the month for Zimbabweans to clean their environments.

The idea came as part of a long term solution in fighting cholera and other hygiene related diseases.

The Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Priscah Mupfumira and Minister of State for Manicaland Province Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba were part of senior government officials who participated in cleaning Sakubva market.
