FOUNDERS High School in Bulawayo will play host to this year’s edition of the National Closed Heroes Darts Competition.

The annual event is held during the Heroes holidays and will run from August 4 to 6.

National Darts Association of Zimbabwe (Ndaz) secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo said all was in place ahead of the competition that will see the best talent in the country go head-to-head.

“We are working round the clock to ensure that the event becomes a success.

Initially, Masvingo province was supposed to host the event but they failed to meet the targets and we had to settle for Bulawayo,” said Nkomo.

“Each province will bring one men’s team and one ladies team.

Also, each province will be expected to bring a junior team for this tournament,” she added.

The competition will be used as preparation for the region five games that will be held in Namibia later this year.

“From this event, the national association is supposed to select a national team that will represent the country at the regional competition.

Given that, players should accumulate points for selection to the national team.

Ndaz is expecting to come up with a formidable team that will bring back gold,” said Nkomo.

The regional championships will see Zimbabwe battle against Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Malawi. – @innocentskizoe
