BUDDING gospel artiste Felix Muleya fondly known as The Man of Peace is popularising the #HallowBrethren salutation as he encourages people to observe Covid-19 protocols.

Normally, people greet using handshakes or hugs, but due to the pandemic, they can no longer do so. A wave, nod or bow is now the recommended way of greeting to avoid physical contact.

Muleya, a popular barber in Bulawayo, has introduced the salutation to replace the handshake in a bid to remind people of their role regarding the fight against the pandemic.

Speaking to Chronicle Showbiz, Muleya said: “#HallowBrethren is a greeting to remind people of what they need to do in combining efforts to fight this global pandemic.

“The salutation is meant to remind them of the things to observe, from social distancing, proper wearing of masks and sanitising. It’s these basics that will make communities triumph against Covid-19.”

While his message for combating the pandemic is a welcome gesture, he admitted that the situation is not that rosy and needs some serious rethinking in doing things.

“We’re in an unpredictable situation where a lot of dreams and projects have been shattered. However, in my case, I’d like to thank God that this situation, regardless of its harshness, has presented me with an opportunity to grow my music,” he said while sharing that he is working on his album launch.

“My second album titled Mulinguzu will be out next month and we’re planning to launch it live on Facebook. There’s a video for the song titled Luyando lwamwami (the love of God) which speaks about the love of God and it’s actually the one that made me come up with the #Hallow Brethren salutation,” he added. — @joelTsvakwi.
