THE Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife has scheduled a provincial engagement and consultation on the draft climate change management Bill in Lupane on Friday, 12 July.

Government recognizes climate change as a threat to achieving the country’s development agenda and Vision 2030.

To better respond to this threat, it has moved to ensure compliance, mainstreaming and funding of climate change adaptation and mitigation actions, and the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife is developing the Climate Change Management Bill.

“The principles of the Bill were approved by Cabinet in 2023 and stakeholder and public consultations on the substance and structure of the Bill are underway with an official launch that was presided over by the Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, Dr Sithembiso Nyoni in May this year,” said director, climate change management department in the Ministry.

The Bill aims to tackle critical areas like greenhouse gas emission reduction and building community resilience to climate change impacts. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide valuable input on these issues, ensuring the Bill offers practical and effective solutions.
