Midlands Bureau

GWERU Mayor Councillor Hamutendi Kombayi has commissioned three tractors valued at US$93 000 that will be used for refuse  collection, grass cutting and ferrying equipment in the engineering department.

The tractors were bought through a partnership with a local car dealer, Duly’s Motors through its Gweru branch.

The development comes at a time when the local authority needs more equipment and vehicles to improve service delivery.

Speaking during the commissioning of the tractors, Duly’s Gweru Business Unit Manager, Mr Peace Mango said Duly’s is rehabilitating Robert Mugabe Road and work has already started.

“We have also offered to fix the damaged street lights in the Central Business District as part of our social responsibility programme,’’ he said.

Mr Mango said his company will also provide bins in the city centre to discourage people from throwing litter everywhere.

Clr Kombayi hailed the private, public partnership with Duly’s.
