Every week for the past four months, a group of 15 contestants from all over the country had been singing their hearts out at the venue with the winners walking away with US$100 cash each.

The finale of Season 1 was held this weekend with three contestants battling for the grand prize.

The winner, Harare-based Leah Kasinamunda walked away US$2 000 richer after shrugging off stiff competition from Gweru-based Leona Lillie Furusa who took second position and bagged US$500. So stiff was the competition that there was a tie between the two at one point.

This then culminated in the final where the winner received US$2 000.

We’re grateful to the contestants who came from all over the country and made the event a success,” he said.

Chiriseri said Season Two would be launched soon adding that it will be bigger and better as plans are underway to engage television networks to be part of the show.

Event producer, Kim Gogwe Sibanda, said the show was aimed at talent identification as well as nurturing talent.

“This Hear Me Zimbabwe karaoke show is aimed at identifying talent and affording contestants an opportunity to showcase their talents so that they broaden their horizon.

“Kudos to the Milan Family Restaurant for this initiative because from week one, US$100 was being won. We had over 210 contestants and we’re grateful for the support we got,” Sibanda said.
