Herentals Queens On Top Of Zimbabwe Women’s Soccer League With Game In Hand
ZIMBABWE Women’s Soccer League champions Herentals Queens stayed at the top of the log with 45 points, after a 1-0 win at home against MSU Queens on Saturday.
Herentals, who are involved in a tight title race, needed a solitary goal for them to maintain top spot with very few points separating them and their nearest rivals.
The victory against 11th placed MSU Queens meant that they have the same number of points with second placed Harare City Queens, but having the advantage of a better goal difference with a plus 74, 25 goals ahead of the side in second place which has a plus 49 goal.
Harare City Queens themselves know that at this stage of the season there is less margin for error. They were due to play Shine Shine Queens away at Mucheke Stadium and were awarded a walkover decision as their opponents failed to turn up for their match.
They will hope for a slip up from their Harare neighbours if they are to go all the way.
Third and fourth placed Black Rhinos Queens and Chapungu Queens’ matches were postponed, therefore they both stayed on 40 points, five behind the log leaders with two games in hand.
Six points separate the top five teams and Correctional Queens made their statement that they are not to be ruled out of the title race.
They won 3-0 against 12th positioned Yadah Queens.
