DETEMA Secondary School in Hwange district, Matabeleland North province needs US$6 000 to repair two classroom blocks whose roofs were destroyed by heavy rains in December last year.

The school, with 335 learners, is owned by Hwange Rural District Council whose area of jurisdiction has a number of tourism facilities.
According to Ward 18’s Councillor Stanley Torima, the school needs roof trusses and roofing sheets to make the two blocks habitable again.
“I am deeply worried about the state of affairs at the school, more so when I think about the poor learners who have not been having a decent learning environment since schools opened this year,” said Cllr Torima.
The school has five blocks and with only two inhabitable, it means learners are now forced to squeeze into two blocks as the other one is a computer and science lab.
