Rapper Msiz’kay says he wishes to raise around US$30 000 for the building of his house in Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo.

For winning the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards People’s Choice Award last year, the artiste was given a stand in the suburb.

The prize was sponsored by TCI International, land developers and engineering contractors who officially handed over the stand located at Lot Two in Emganwini to Msiz’kay last year.

After being presented with the 200 square-metre residential stand, Msiz’kay embarked on a mission to raise funds to start building his dream home.

The targeted amount to be in the form of money or building material will be raised through a fundraising concert which has been dubbed #Indlu’ kaMrapper Campaign Concert.

The concert is set to be held at The Oasis Creators’ Hub in the city on June 9. Helping the artiste achieve his goal will be Amany, CTL, Indigo Saint, Luchi Shiki, Luminous, Ma9Nine, Mzoe 7, Noluntu J, Zimbiyana Jones, DJ Fritz and DJ Crazy Dee whom he will share the stage.

Various sponsors have been secured for the hosting of the concert whose tickets are already on sale. Tickets to the event have been categorised from the foundation, brick by brick to roof tickets.

Advance tickets which Msiz’kay said will go towards the foundation have been pegged at US$5 while those who would want to contribute to the buying of bricks will be expected to part with US$15.

Roofing tickets have been pegged at US$30. Those who want to buy tickets at the venue will be expected to pay US$10, US$20 and US$40 respectively for their contribution to the foundation, bricks and roofing.

Said Msiz’kay: “We want to raise US$30 000 to build #IndluKaMrapper house. Some of our partners for the concert have pledged building materials and we still need more pledges and funding.”

He said preparations for the concert are proceeding well as they are hard at work trying to ensure that they raise the funds they need to start building.

Through this initiative, Msiz’kay said he also wants to show fellow artistes that it is possible for one’s art to be supported.

“The #IndluKaMrapper #LetsBuildMyHome Campaign is an opportunity to help change the narrative about artistes in the city and show people that if you make good music and you’re able to build a strong brand behind your music, anything is possible,” Msiz’kay said. – @mthabisi_mthire
