Infinity DJs ready to claim Amapiano crown Infinity DJs

IN Bulawayo, the Amapiano genre has been on a pedestal lately and nascent talent has been emerging and vying for the chance to be crowned the city’s Yano powerhouses.

One such group is Infinity DJs with one of the members, DJ Mjava (real name Busiso Sibanda) being nominated for two awards at the Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards (Praca). Other members are Brian Dube (Bygo) and Chantel Mangwiro (Katty C).

Mjava has been nominated for the Outstanding newcomer in all genres and Best Amapiano/House/Kwaito categories, a feat that excites and scares the DJ. The awards will be held on December 18.

Mjava said they have been pushing the Yano Movement and dropping mixtapes for a while now, something that has helped him get his maiden Praca nomination.

“Last year, I didn’t get the chance to be nominated since Praca didn’t have diverse categories for different genres. It’s against such a background that my double nomination excites me. It’s a pity we (Infinity DJs) weren’t nominated collectively, but it’s a victory nonetheless.

“This shows how hard I’ve worked this time around and I owe my nomination to my fellow DJs, Bygo and Katty C for walking the journey with me,” said Mjava.

He said his group recently dropped a mixtape titled Like a Bomb and other singles as well.
