ORGANISERS of the Inxusa Theatre Festival – Amakhosi Cultural Centre – have postponed the event to focus on setting up studios for their new commercial radio station – Skyz Metro FM.

The festival, which was re-launched last year after having been suspended in 1999, was meant to run from March 25 to 28 at Amakhosi.

Amakhosi director Thembi Ngwabi said all programmes which were meant to take place at the centre had been cancelled as they were renovating the place in preparation for Skyz Metro FM which would broadcast from there.

“After we were awarded a radio licence, we decided to set aside all programmes at Amakhosi to focus on renovating the centre. The centre will resume its operations after the radio station is firmly established and all our facilities have been revamped.

“The theatres, restaurant and admin block will all be renovated,” Ngwabi said.

The radio station, which is expected to provide an ‘uncensored’ platform where people from Bulawayo will discuss issues that affect them, is expected to launch in September.

Ngwabi said their students would resume lessons in September with those who were meant to make presentations at the centre having more time to perfect their craft.
