Music giants, Winky D and Jah Prayzah shut down the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair with a sterling performance at an oversubscribed show at the Bulawayo Amphitheatre on Saturday. On a night when people were spoilt for choice as there were many gigs across the city, it was the Jah Prayzah and Winky D concert which attracted masses. The Second Coming concert which featured SA artistes Bucie and Nathi at Queens Sports Grounds was attended by a handful of revellers while others preferred to patronise pubs and bars.

Revellers had however filled the Amphitheatre by 9PM with show organisers actually running out of tags. First on stage was Jah Prayzah accompanied as usual by his Third Generation Band. Upon hearing his voice and his usual ‘muri heavy heavy here’ greeting, fans stuck outside the venue went wild and started shoving hoping to gain access.

It was at this point when the police made use of their dogs as they tried to discipline rowdy fans. While they were at it, police inside were not spared as well as fans pushed upfront to have a closer glimpse of their icon. The cops did not entertain them as they wanted to protect the artiste and made use of the baton sticks to bar revellers from jumping onto the stage.

Jah Prayzah who as usual commanded a full house, kept revellers on their feet.

The crowd went wild when he played the popular Eriza song but sadly, Eriza the dancer was absent and female revellers had to take her place.

Disappointingly, Jah Prayzah had to leave the stage in a huff after a couple of whispers from his management. This did not go down well with revellers who kept on singing his tunes, showing they still wanted more of him.

In no time however, the Gaffer, as Winky D is affectionately known, took to the stage clad in white regalia. He had the crowd eating from his hand proving why he is the Zimdancehall king.

As usual, when he sang the popular song – Taitirana – Winky D called on the services of female singers to sing Lipsy’s verses. Unfortunately, he had to try three times before eventually finding a fan who knew the lyrics of the song.

Just like Jah Prayzah, there was that one hit – Disappear – which the crowd had braved the cold weather for. The crowd could not get enough of it hence they asked him to play it several times. The night was really a memorable one for those that attended the show.
