THE country has reported 14 more Covid-19 related deaths and 123 new cases in the last 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of cases to 34 781.

All 123 new cases are local transmissions and Harare recorded the highest with 43.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases fell to 138 from 158 the previous day.

To date, the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Zimbabwe is 1 353 while the national recovery rate stands at 84,2 percent.

A total of 2 447 PCR tests were conducted yesterday and positivity was 5 percent.

“As of February 9, 2021, Zimbabwe has now recorded 34 781 confirmed cases, 29 289 recoveries and 1 353 deaths,” reads a statement from the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

According to the Ministry active cases went down to 4 139 from 4 494.

“As of 8 February 2021, at 3pm, there were 103 patients hospitalized of which eight were in intensive care units (ICU) while 15 severe had severe symptoms, 17 asymptomatic and 63 mild to moderate.”

Masvingo had the second highest new cases with 27 after Harare, Mashonaland East had 15.

All other provinces 10 cases and below while Matabeleland North had no case.

The deaths were recorded in Harare, Manicaland, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Masvingo and Matabeleland North.
