THE country has reported five more Covid-19 related deaths and 26 new cases in the last 24-hour reporting cycle, bringing the total number of cases to 36 115 with Manicaland having the highest number of cases.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases fell to 36 from 42 on Sunday.

All the 26 new cases are local transmissions. On Saturday and Sunday, the country didn’t report any deaths.

So far, the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in Zimbabwe now stands at 1 468 while the national recovery rate stands at 91,1 percent.

A total of 2 041 PCR tests were conducted yesterday and positivity was 1,3percent.

As of February 28, 2021, at 3PM, there were 157 hospitalised people of which 10 patients were admitted in intensive care units (ICU) while 44 had mild to moderate symptoms. Thirty-five had severe symptoms while 68 were asymptomatic.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, the highest number of 10 cases was reported in Manicaland followed by Harare with four cases.

Masvingo and Mashonaland West reported three cases each while Mashonaland Central and Matabeleland North had two cases each. Bulawayo had one case while Matabeleland South and Mashonaland East did not report any cases.

“As of March 1, 2021, Zimbabwe, has now recorded 36 115confirmed cases, 32 905 recoveries and 1 468 deaths,” reads the statement.

“Two hundred and thirty-nine new recoveries were reported and the national recovery rate stands at 91,1 percent and active case go down to 1 742 today.”

So far, Bulawayo province has recorded 5 281 cases 5 004 recoveries, 74 active cases and 203 deaths.
