An unidentified man believed to be in his 30s was attacked and killed near St Joseph Primary School in Beitbridge in a case suspected to be robbery.

The man’s half naked body was found on Thursday morning by motorists lying in a pool of blood near a pedestrian crossing.

The police officer commanding Beitbridge district Chief Superintendent Francis Phiri could not be reached for comment.

However, sources close to the case say the now deceased had a dip cut on the right side of the head.

“We believe he was attacked with an axe or machete. The body has been taken to Beitbridge district hospital mortuary pending further investigations,” said the source.
