JUST IN: Two men on the run for stealing R13 000

A BEITBRIDGE man has been arrested for stealing R13 000 and US$40 while his two accomplices are still on the run.

Police on their twitter page confirmed the incident which occurred on August 27. They said the suspect Cephas Munodawafa (40) and his accomplices who were armed with a rifle and pistols invaded a home in Tsawami Village in Beitbridge at around 7AM.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Cephas Munodawafa (40) in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at Tsawami Village, Beitbridge on 27 August at about 7PM. The suspect together with his two accomplices still on the run stormed a home, armed with an unidentified riffle and pistols before holding hostage the occupants. They stole R13 000, US$40 and other properties including cellphones and clothes. The suspect was nabbed by a police patrol team at about 2AM whilst walking along a dust road. Seven AK47 rounds were recovered from him including some of the stolen clothes, R 3 600, US$20 and cellphones,” the police.

In another incident police in Kadoma are investigating a case of theft involving US$3 400 and a Tokarev pistol with a magazine of six rounds from a home in Mornington Extension on. An unknown suspect broke into the complainant’s house through a window and stole the property on August 29. Police said investigations were underway.
