A 10-member choir of inmates from Khami Prison yesterday delivered an electrifying and spirit-filled performance at Grace Family Church in Nketa, Bulawayo.
The choir’s harmonious melodies captivated the congregants, showcasing the transformative power of faith and redemption.
Their heartfelt performance was a testament to the ongoing evangelism efforts within prison walls, highlighting the positive impact of music and faith on the inmates’ rehabilitation journey.
The service was presided over by Bishop Isaac Silumbu, the leader of Grace Family Church and a member of the Hospital and Prisons Care Ministries International.
The event brought together ministries devoted to sharing the gospel with inmates and hospital patients, underlining the importance of spiritual guidance in the rehabilitation of those in correctional facilities.
Nkulumane legislator, Mr Desire Moyo, commended the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) for its commitment to rehabilitative efforts.
“I am delighted to see the church accepting inmates to worship together, affirming the biblical principle that everyone deserves a second chance. Our friends here are being granted another chance to redeem themselves and seek a new path,” he said.
He also urged the congregation to embrace the inmates through compassion and support.
“To the congregation, I urge you not to discriminate against them. Instead, let’s pray for them, support them with anything we have, and welcome them with open hearts,” said Mr Moyo.
In a gesture of spiritual support, Agape Mission College donated Bibles to the inmates, further strengthening the bonds of faith and redemption.
Last week, more than 200 inmates at Khami and Mlondolozi Prisons were baptised by ministers from the Seventh-day Adventist Church in a heartfelt ceremony that demonstrated the transformative power of faith and spirituality.
