Kings City residents receive title deeds

RADAR Properties, the developer of Kings City, an upmarket residential area on the outskirts of Bulawayo, has begun providing title deeds to home seekers, complementing President Mnangagwa’s vision of issuing a million title deeds by the end of the year. On Saturday, Kings City issued 50 title deeds to people who purchased stands with the property developer.

The title deeds provide security for home seekers who, in the past, have fallen victim to bogus real estate agents. Last year, President Mnangagwa launched the Kwangu/Ngakwami Presidential Title Deeds Programme Consortium, aimed at providing title deeds to home seekers, some of whom had lived their whole lives in untitled premises, sometimes leading to the loss of properties to unscrupulous land barons.

The majority of the home seekers in the area are Zimbabweans based in the diaspora, who have previously suffered losses due to the unreliability of some property developers.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Radar Properties director Mr Walter Zimunya said the issuance of title deeds addresses problems associated with property rights.

“This is a momentous occasion, marking a significant milestone in your lives and a testament to Radar Properties’ commitment to providing titled properties. We gather to celebrate the official handover of property deeds. These are not just mere documents; they are the keys to your future, the foundation upon which you can build your dreams and secure your legacy.

“We understand the challenges that have historically plagued property ownership in Zimbabwe. From delays in the title deed process to land disputes, these hurdles have often hindered progress and prosperity. However, through perseverance and the support of dedicated partners, we have overcome these obstacles and reached this pivotal moment,” he said.

He stated that his company is committed to providing quality, secure houses for its clients, targeting the provision of 10  000 residential stands within the area. The project will also deliver 14 schools, hospitals, and other social amenities. So far, Kings City has developed 1 000 residential homes, including the upmarket Kingsbury Estate gated community.

Mr Zimunya said the issuance of title deeds complements President Mnangagwa’s target of issuing a million title deeds by the end of the year.

“By prioritising the timely issuance of title deeds, we are empowering you to make informed decisions about your property, whether it’s for personal use, investment, or securing finance. Radar Properties is participating in the President’s initiative to distribute a million title deeds this year, empowering citizens through property ownership. By working together with the Government, private developers can accelerate the achievement of national housing targets and the realisation of Vision 2030.

“Within Kings City, all our 10 000 stands will be titled, demonstrating our commitment to this noble cause. This project is a significant opportunity for Bulawayo, which is currently battling a housing backlog of 120  000,” said Mr Zimunya.

He added that through Kings City, Radar Properties seeks to help reduce the housing shortage in accordance with the Government’s economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS 1), and the achievement of Vision 2030.

Umguza Rural District Council acting chief executive officer Ms Lynda Maphosa commended Radar Properties for doing things above board.

“All their development is above board, and when you stay here, you are not going to have any problems.

“They have done an environmental impact assessment for their development. You might have seen the state of the roads; they are being inspected,” said Ms Maphosa.

She noted that the development of the property has also resulted in downstream economic development, as it has created employment for locals. An elderly couple who received title deeds on behalf of their son, who is based in the diaspora, expressed gratitude to Radar Properties for providing the title deeds, saying it enables their child to develop a future home for his family.
