KO-SAMURIWO Pub and Grill owner Cde Brian Samuriwo has increased security within his business premises while assuring patrons of security of their vehicles as they visit his spot.

The pub and grill has become one of the popular spots for nightlife lovers in the city.

Situated within Chigumira Business area in Luveve suburb, the pub and grill attracts patrons from across the city.

Due to the influx of people visiting various spots within Chigumira business area, thieves have also targeted cars from patrons who visit joints in the area.

Over the weekend, two cars were stolen within the same area but police recovered the two vehicles, a silver Mazda CX5 and a black Honda Fit—were found abandoned within 48 hours of the theft.

While the Mazda CX5 was recovered with a missing battery, the Honda Fit was found intact.

According to police, the vehicle’s owners were said to be drinking at the pub when the theft occurred.

Cde Samuriwo said security for patrons and their property is prioritised in his pub.

“We have noted the worrying issue where two motorists lost their cars to thieves while drinking within Chigumira business premises where our pub and grill is also located. We have always prioritised the security of our patrons and their properties. That is why I have employed a total of 25 security guards, 15 of them operate outside the parking area outside our premises with 10 others maintaining order within the pub,” said Cde Samuriwo.

He said in addition; he has a secure parking area with marshals who monitor the vehicles and a closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance system also complementing the staff.

Cde Samuriwo said the cars that were stolen were parked a distance away from his joint.

He said to effectively address the isolated theft cases, there might be a need for close collaboration among business owners operating in the Chigumira business complex.

“While we have security manning and patrolling our area, we cannot adequately cover the whole area as some places are not ours. We recently had a meeting with police over the security in the area and what emerged is that some of the business operators do not have any form of security outside the premises. We even have a neighbourhood car which is deployed as a reaction vehicle to try and respond to any criminal activities within the suburb,” he said.
