SOUTH Africa’s kwaito musician, Professor is among the headline acts of the “Fill up Gwanda Phelandaba Stadium” gig that is taking place on Friday.

The event will see the Imoto and Jezebel hit-maker stage his maiden performance in the mining town. He is set to share the stage with Diliza, Master Zhoe, Mzoe 7, Zagoe Radge, Tocky Vibes, DJ HitkidExclusiv, DJ Jaziri, and DJ T Money.
Event organisers, X Studios through their publicity officer Moratile “Mora” Sedange said all is set for the gig which aims to bring the Matabeleland South provincial capital to life.

“The gig is aimed at availing opportunities for local artistes who usually want to reach out to such big artistes, but fail to get platforms to do so. So, this is our way of bringing these guys closer and ensuring that we open doors for local artistes,” said Mora.

She said they are going all out with the event where they are targeting to fill up the stadium.
“Our target is to fill the stadium with thousands of music and fun lovers. We hope to achieve this through affordable ticket pricing. Master Zhoe has worked with the likes of Professor and Diliza and this is an opportunity for people to see him performing live with them which is exciting,” said Mora.

She said Professor is expected to arrive in Bulawayo on Friday afternoon and travel to Gwanda shortly after.
“Professor will land on Friday afternoon and relax by X Studios in Bulawayo where he’ll meet his friends before proceeding to Gwanda. In Gwanda, there’ll be a roadshow upon his arrival before he meets and greets his fans by the venue,” said Mora.

After a quiet spell, Professor recently made a comeback with a new love song featuring Shwi and Sun-El Musician titled ‘Ezangakini’ and locals will be among the first to sample the classic story of love being performed live. A few years ago, he released Brand New, and then he went back to the drawing board. In 2020, he released a single titled Ndicendeni featuring old-school bubblegum group Dalom Kids.

The aim according to the artiste, was to remake South African bubblegum hits that he enjoyed growing up. – @mthabisi_mthire
