ALL is set for the 9th edition of the Kwekwe business expo to be held in the mining town this month with organisers optimistic of attracting more exhibitors.

The event will be held at the Kwekwe Mining Museum from 27 to 29 September under the theme “Consolidating Local Economic Development”.

Event manager Mr Howard Masaninga said despite the economic challenges, 65 percent of the stands have already been taken.

“We are targeting an improvement from last year where we had 50 exhibitors. This year we are targeting to have about 80 exhibitors. Despite the economic challenges so far about 65 percent of exhibitors have confirmed participation and we are expecting more to come,” he said.

“We are trying to tap into the natural resources that Kwekwe is endowed with so we are opening doors to exhibitors from outside Kwekwe. We are calling on companies from places like Gweru, Kadoma, Harare, Bulawayo and the whole of Zimbabwe, to come and exhibit as this presents them with business opportunities in the town.”

Mr Masaninga, however, said due to economy constraints they had cut their budget by 50 percent to $20 000. Business tycoon, Mr Shingi Mutasa is expected to deliver a keynote address at the expo’s business conference. Kwekwe Expo is a brain child of Kwekwe Publicity Association, which works hand in glove with Kwekwe City Council and other local companies.
