LATEST: COVID-19: 36 test positive as one person dies

ONE person succumbed to Covid-19 in the country yesterday while 36 new cases were recorded.

All the new cases are local transmissions.

The seven-day rolling average for new cases remained at 40.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care said 11 of the new cases were outbreaks in schools in Masvingo and Mashonaland West provinces.

There were 64 new recoveries and the National Recovery Rate was 95 percent while active cases went down to 553 from 582 the previous day.

A total of 2 412 PCR tests were done and positivity was 1.5 percent.

Masvingo had the highest ,18 new cases, followed by Matabeleland South which had five and Manicaland which recorded the only death, had four new cases.

Mashonaland East had three new cases while Matabeleland North and Harare had two, Bulawayo and Mashonaland West one each while Mashonaland Central and Midlands had no cases.

The vaccination programme is continuing countrywide with 6 691 people receiving their first jab bringing the cumulative for 1st dose to 3 281 724.

A total of 11 004 people received their second dose bringing the cumulative second dose to 2 556 721 as at Tuesday at 4pm.

As of 25 October, 2021, at 3PM, there were 48 people who were hospitalised. Of these, two were new admissions, 11 were asymptomatic, 32 had mild to moderate symptoms while two were severe and three in intensive care units.

“As of 26 October 2021, Zimbabwe has now recorded 132 724 confirmed cases, 127 497 recoveries and 4 674 deaths,” reads a statement from the Ministry. -@ncubeleon
