Letters to the Editor:Glow Service Station staff very efficient

Editor — In the midst of turmoil, somebody somewhere will exhibit a semblance of order and calm. I want to commend the staff at Glow Service Stations in Bulawayo.

The guys are committed to what they do. It is no longer a secret that for the past weeks fuel supplies have been erratic.

Upon receiving a delivery, the staff at Glow work flat out to ensure that everyone is served.

One particular day I saw their manager counting cars in the queue in an attempt to allocate fuel to all motorists.

The other day I was two kilometres away from the pump but it took me less than an hour to reach the pump; that is efficiency at its highest level.

One day I saw a tanker decanting at an internationally branded fuel station by 15th Avenue in Bulawayo.

The truck was clearly coded 1203 which I am told means petrol tanker.

I joined the queue at that service station only to be told that it was diesel. I called my friend with a diesel engine but the attendants changed and said it was petrol.

We confronted them with both engines —petrol and diesel — and they said they will start serving the next day at 0800hrs.

That is not the case with team Glow. Last week but one fuel arrived at Glow Service Station in Belmont on Saturday late in the afternoon.

I am now accustomed to bad service and being taken for granted so I phoned my family and told them that I may be coming home tomorrow.

But to my pleasant surprise within 10 minutes the full staff complement was on sight and within 1 hour I had been served.

Of course I also called my friend while I was in the queue and he joined the queue as far as Ingutsheni hospital but still he was also served within a few hours.

They also take all forms of payment that is cash, swipe and Ecocash.

Let me put it on record, the guys have good work ethics and customer care.

They have no favouritism — politician, resident, soldier, councillor or cousin — same line. Honda fit, BMW, Benz, Wish — first come, first serve.

How I wish such basic ethical tendencies could cascade upwards. They still treat us as customers not some desperate lot they are doing a favour. Team Glow is committed to their trade.

Someone Somewhere must say something when something is working. Glow is by far the most efficient service station throughout the length and breadth of Bulawayo.

They mean business. I urge the powers that be to allocate more fuel to such garages.

May I take this opportunity to beg the responsible authorities to please fix this crisis.

November is around the corner, we want to celebrate the inception of the Second Republic without being inconvenienced by the fuel crisis. SIYABONGA TEAM GLOW.
