The three men accused of murdering two women and dumping their bodies in a pigsty on a farm in Onverwacht, outside Polokwane, will today apply for bail in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo.
Zacharia Olivier, Rudolf de Wet and William Musora have been charged with premeditated murder and attempted murder. This is after the decomposed remains of Maria Makgato and Kudzai Ndlovu were discovered inside the pigsty.
A Zimbabwean man sustained gunshot wounds.
The defence team representing farm owner, Olivier and his two employees, argued last week that their clients, in particular, Olivier, signed written statements under duress following their arrests.
Olivier’s defence was granted access to a statement and a docket he allegedly signed.
The court however denied the defence representing Musora and De Wet access to police dockets.
The state is opposing bail and has also lodged an appeal following the court’s decision to allow Olivier’s defence access to a written statement he signed.
