The collaboration made possible by Zimbabwe’s Comexposed under Kay Media Africa and UK’s Writing West Midlands saw the two creatives virtually connect to come up with an environmentally-conscious concept.

The comic book is set to be launched at the Comic-Con festival in Cape Town next year.
Kay Media Africa’s Keith Kuhudzai outlined the storyline of the book.

“The story begins when the UK is disrupted by a wind demon that takes advantage of a weakened jet stream due to climate change and wants to destroy the world, starting with the UK. The UK government reaches out to an earth god who has retired in Zimbabwe and is protected by the government.

“When the god learns that one of his three children is trapped in the UK, he pleads to his other two children to move past their differences and defeat the demon. This is a fantasy drama about power, strained relationships, and teamwork,” Kuhudzai said.

On working with Brightling, T.S ZOMBiE said the experience challenged him.
“It was an amazing experience. It was a good challenge for me because it took me out of my comfort zone. Annabel and I write in completely different genres, so doing something different was a good thing. She made it very easy to work with her script. It was straightforward.

“I don’t remember a point where I had to ask her anything that I didn’t get. She’s genuinely an amazing writer, and for someone who’s never written for comics, she outdid herself,” said T. S. ZOMBiE.

The digital artist shed light on his upcoming endeavours and promised to release new projects.
“Next year, I want to try to wrap up my thriller series titled PARADOX which has two volumes already out. I’m also hoping to release more volumes.

From there, I’ll move on to a new title, Haven, that’s already had a few pages debut on the first Zimbabwean manga anthology, KALABASH.
