Lulu outsmarts Rush Mandla "Lulu" Mpofu

FORMER Highlanders coach, Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu outsmarted another ex Bosso gaffer Rahman ‘Rush’ Gumbo as Masitaoka defeated Morupule Wanderers 3-1 in a Botswana Premier League match played at Serowe Sports Complex on Saturday.

Lethabo Ogotseng, Brian Vuyo Mankanku and Tapiwa Sepatela were on target as Mpofu recovered from a humiliating 4-1 loss at the hands of Jwaneng Galaxy on January 22. Former FC Platinum striker Agrippa Murimba had given Gumbo’s side the lead with an eighth minute thunderbolt but Bafana Ba Magala could not hold on as Masitaoka went on score three without reply and collect the maximum points.

The win saw Masitaoka move to sixth on the log with 22 points, 11 away from table topping Gaborone United. Mpofu’s men have won seven of the 13 matches they have played so far this season, with one draw and five defeats.
Gumbo’s Morupule Wanderers are 10th on log with 15 points. They have four wins, three draws and six defeats from 13 matches.

Former Highlanders winger Daniel Msendami provided an assist as Jwaneng Galaxy drew 2-2 with Nico United at Selebi-Phikwe Stadium. Nico United used to be coached by ex-Bulawayo City mentor Philani “Beefy” Ncube before he parted ways with the club recently.

Jwaneng Galaxy are second on the log with 31 points, two behind leaders Gaborone United. In third place are Taurai Mangwiro’s Orapa United who clobbered Police XI 4-1 at Itekeng Stadium yesterday to take their points tally to 30. Mangwiro had two Zimbabweans in the Orapa starting eleven, Tapiwa Nyamanjiva and Kelvin Bingala.

Gaborone United were held to a 1-1 draw by Sua Flamingoes at Sowa Town Council Stadium. Samuel Makgoro found the equaliser for Sua Flamingoes from the penalty spot 10 minutes into the second half after they had gone behind in similar fashion in the 22nd minute.

Former Highlanders striker Cleopas “Balotelli” Dube started the match for Sua Flamingoes together with another Zimbabwean Tendai Nyumasi. Ex-Caps United forward Dominc Chungwa was on the bench with his countryman, Mcebisi Moyo, formely with TelOne. — @Mdawini_29
