Macheso revisits Masvingo Alick Macheso

SUNGURA ace Alick Macheso aka Baba Shero will be in Masvingo on Saturday for a performance at the popular Caravan Park watering hole.

This will be the artiste’s second visit to the ancient city as he was here earlier this year at the rebranded Club Lagoon (formerly Ritz Night Club) where he wowed audiences. Nothing short of a thriller is expected from the gifted artiste whose performance is likely to draw another bumper crowd.

The Orchestra Mberikwazvo ensemble front-man is one musician who is known to attract huge crowds despite the time of the month as he has a “midas touch”. With the festive season around the corner, this may just be an early festive present for his legion of fans here.

Arts guru and Charles Austin Theatre director Khetani Banda said this gig was certainly a welcome development as it comes on the back of yet another mouthwatering display from the ageless Oliver Mtukudzi and energetic Winky D a fortnight ago at the same venue.

Banda hailed Masvingo leisure spots for their promotion of the city’s entertainment industry.

“I want to thank Caravan Park and others for constantly staging shows of such magnitude in these difficult times. It’s good to have many shows in the city as it promotes our arts industry. If we continue doing this, we’ll be able to contribute immensely to the province’s devolved economy through art,” Banda said.

“We become worried when we go for a long time without hosting big artistes like Macheso and Tuku.” – @walterbmswazie2
