COMEDIAN Mai T, who once hogged the limelight a few months back crying over her husband whom she claimed had infected her with HIV, seems to have found love once again and will actually be tying the knot in December.

Known by many for her funny comedy clips, the comedian, real name Felistas Murata Edwards, who often turns to recording comic clips or singing gospel tunes each time she is heartbroken, has recorded a celebratory wedding song.

Titled Kerekhedukeke, Mai T expresses love for her man on the track that was released on Monday.

“Kerekhedukeke is a song inspired by my current relationship. I’m in a lovely relationship so it inspired me to write this song,” Mai T said.
She said she composed the song for her lover who makes her feel special and loved.

“The song is basically about a person who’s in love. I’m so in love with my man and it feels too good. I dedicated the song to him because of the unconditional love he has for me. He takes care of me and he does not care what anyone else says about me.”

She told our Harare Bureau that she, together with her unnamed partner from the UK, were now preparing for their wedding that will be held in Sandton, South Africa, in December.

“My friends and relatives will be attending the wedding and Titi and Fifi (her children) will be part of the bridal team. After the wedding, I’ll not immediately move to the UK. We’ll just continue visiting each other like we’re doing now.” she said.

Mai T said she was keeping her relationship and identity of this lover under wraps after realising how cruel people could be on social media.

“I didn’t want people to know because they can be very cruel, but my boyfriend actually paid lobola and I’ve been customarily married for three years now.
Social media is dangerous. Imagine someone managed to get his contact and started sending him messages asking him why he’d want to be with an HIV-positive woman.

“He was very upset and even showed me the messages so I just decided to keep my mouth shut until now,” shared the comedian.

Now that she has found love once again, Mai T, who had dropped her singing talent to focus on comedy, is now paying more attention to music. She said music had always been her first love as she started singing way back before she ventured into comedy.

“I’ve always been passionate about music. It was my first love and I’m not going to give up on it,” said the comedian.

She said she would release two albums this year, one being gospel and the other an experimental album where she will explore various genres. So far, she has collaborated with the likes of Souljah Love and Garry Mapanzure. Also, she is working with a Kenyan choreographer on a video she will be dropping soon.
