Man fined US$200 for assaulting peace maker

A 38-YEAR-OLD man from Nyanga, Manicaland Province was fined for attacking a villager who was trying to restrain him from beating up a fellow villager.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement on X, said “The accused person and the complainant reside in the same village. On the 21st of July 2024, the complainant was at her homestead when she saw the accused person assaulting a villager.
“She tried to restrain the accused person who assaulted her with a log on the right shoulder before pulling out her braids. The accused person only stopped when he was restrained by a passerby. The matter was reported to the Police leading to the arrest of the accused person. The accused person was convicted and sentenced to a fine of US$200, in default of payment, 2 months imprisonment.”
