A MAN allegedly stabbed his two friends multiple times with a knife in their stomachs, killing one and severely wounding the other over R3.

Nkosiyazi Siziba of Kwite area in Mangwe District plunged the blade into Edica Ncube’ stomach on Sunday, leading to his death at Plumtree District Hospital on the same day, a court heard.

Edica had allegedly refused to pay back R3 that he owed Siziba.

The court heard how an enraged Siziba also stabbed Melusi Ncube, 25, with the same knife over a R5 debt.

Melusi, who is not related to Edica, is admitted to Plumtree District Hospital where he is recovering.

Siziba yesterday appeared on initial remand before Plumtree magistrate, Gideon Ruvetsa, facing one count of murder and another of attempted murder.

The magistrate remanded him in custody to April 13.

Prosecuting, Elisha Mazorodze said Siziba flew into a rage and attacked his friends after they refused to pay him money which they owed him.

He said the altercation erupted during a beer drink.

“Siziba, Melusi and Edica were drinking beer at Andersons Bottle Store in Kwite area on March 27. Siziba confronted Melusi over R5 which he owed him and Edica over R3.

“His two friends refused to give him back the money and a fist fight ensued involving the three men,’’ said Mazorodze.

He said Siziba drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed his two friends several times in their stomachs.

Melusi managed to flee from the scene before Siziba could inflict severe wounds on him while Edica remained behind at the mercy of his furious knife-wielding friend.

He said Siziba fled from the scene after the killing but was arrested at his parents’ homestead on the following day.

Mazorodze said Melusi and Edica were rushed to Plumtree District Hospital where they were both admitted.

Edica died upon admission while Melusi is recovering.
