A 43- YEAR – OLD man from Mvurwi, Mashonaland Province was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his daughter in a banana thicket.
“The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement on X, said “Sometime in July 2021 at around 1300 hours the complainant was at home when she heard someone trying to open the door to her room. She went out to see who was at the door but did not find anyone outside. The complainant met the accused person as she was walking back to the house.
“He dragged her to a nearby banana thicket where he removed her clothes and raped her. The complainant screamed but to no avail. The accused person threatened to chase her out of the house if she told anyone of the offense. The matter came to light when the complainant ran away to her aunt’s home and confided in her cousin. The complainant’s cousin accompanied her to file a Police report leading to the arrest of the accused person. The accused person was convicted and sentenced to 20 years.”
