Man stabs ex-lover over US$40

A KARIBA man (49) was sentenced to 30 months in prison for the attempted murder of his ex-lover over a US$40 dispute.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) in a statement on X, said “49-year-old man from Kariba was convicted and sentenced by a Kariba Magistrate on attempted murder charges. On the 27th of September 2023, the accused person followed the complainant, his ex-lover, to her place of residence and demanded that she pays him back the money he had given her the previous day. The complainant handed over USD30 but he insisted that she pays him back the remaining USD40.
“When the complainant noticed that the accused person was now angry she walked towards Nyamhunga Police Post to report the matter. The accused person followed her, grabbed her by the shoulders, and stabbed her with a knife once on the back and once beneath her breasts. The accused person was apprehended by the Police with the help of members of the public. The accused person was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment of which 6 months were suspended for 5 years”
