Manhunt for man ‘who killed friend’

POLICE in Matabeleland North have launched a manhunt for a suspected killer after a domestic worker in Ntabazinduna was found dead with injuries on his head and neck.
Spokesperson for police in Matabeleland North, Inspector Glory Banda said the suspected murder occurred on Friday in Mahaja, Ntabazinduna.
The deceased has been identified as Timothy Ncube (25) of Mahaja in Ntabazinduna.
The deceased’s girlfriend and her sister discovered the lifeless body around 8am on Friday when they visited him.
Thembelihle Maphosa who used to stay with Ncube is the suspect.
His whereabouts are unknown.
Circumstances are that at around 8am, the informant went to Mahaja area in the company of her younger sister when they decided to pass by the deceased’s place of residence.
Upon arrival they reportedly opened an unlocked door to gain entry and found the lifeless body on a bed.
There were blood stains on the floor, police said.
The body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals for post-mortem while investigations have been opened to apprehend the suspected killer.
“We earnestly implore clerics, traditional leaders and community to continue helping our society by underscoring the values of Ubuntu so that people can treasure the sanctity of life. Those who choose the path of violence will not escape the noose of justice,” said Insp Banda.
Maphosa is from Sithuli Village under Chief Sivalo in Nkayi and was staying with Ncube until the fateful day but disappeared to an unknown destination.
